Chiropractic adjustments for Acid Reflux

aka GERD or Heartburn

Acid Reflux aka GERD or Heartburn is a chronic symptom of pain and damage caused by stomach acid coming up from the stomach into the esophagus. Acid reflux is usually caused by changes in the barrier between the stomach and the esophagus, including abnormal relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter, which normally holds the top of the stomach closed. Many foods including baby formulas or traumas can cause this condition, as well as irritation of the nerves that allow the sphincter muscles to function properly.

Chiropractic adjustments restore nerve function to the sphincter muscle allowing it to work correctly, relaxing when food in going into the stomach and contracting to keep digestive acids in the stomach.
