Chiropractic Adjustments for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a group of symptoms including pain, numbness, and parathesia in the distribution of the median nerve due to its compression at the wrist in the carpal tunnel or due to compression of the median nerve roots in the cervical spine.
The main symptom of CTS is intermittent numbness of the thumb, index, long and radial half of the ring finger, but can include the all of the previously mentioned symptoms. Numbness associated with CTS often occurs at night due to sleeping position.
Chiropractic adjustments can alleviate nerve compression at the wrist in the carpal tunnel or in the cervical spine. Adjustments realign the involved vertebrae or carpal bones thus removing nerve pressure due to soft tissue swelling. Wrist braces or splints can also be beneficial and will be prescribed by your doctor if necessary.
